Even when the needs around us feel overwhelming, your individual act of kindness still matters. The story of the child and the starfish reminds us of this truth. When she tossed a single starfish back into the ocean, she was told her effort was too small to make a difference. Her reply “I made a difference for that one” inspired everyone on the beach to join in. Together, they returned every starfish to safety.

This is the spirit behind Apple’s, child led kindness initiative and the mission of I Am Not My Body.

Across Montgomery County, more than 1,500 people are currently living in shelters, with thousands more facing hardship. We proudly support organizations serving these families by providing essentials that restore dignity and comfort underclothes, hygiene products, pajamas, medicine, winter wear, bookbags, and children’s books. These items may seem small, but to someone in crisis, they are everything: warmth, safety, confidence, and hope.

But making a difference isn’t only about what we give outwardly. It’s also about how we care for ourselves. Self‑love is a vital part of every healing journey. When we nurture our own well‑being, we build the resilience and compassion needed to support others from a place of strength. A kind word, a simple gift, a moment of listening these acts is therapeutic for both the giver and the receiver. By offering ourselves grace, we model healing for our community and create a cycle of compassion that reaches far beyond us.

Your school, workplace, church, or community group can collect essential items such as:

Support Transportation & Delivery

If hosting a drive isn’t possible, you can still make a powerful impact by contributing toward transportation and gas costs. These funds help us deliver items directly to individuals and families across Montgomery County.
